Salma Shalaby is a documentary filmmaker and producer with extensive professional, media/ Journalism experience: as an Investigative reporter she investigated Refugee women's rights, Salma was an undercover Syrian refugee, where she aimed to tackle the sex trafficking of Syrian refugees in 2013. As a Writer, Producer, Salma has worked with Endemol Middle East and also in international environments for various film festivals such as the Red Sea Film Festival, CIFF and ACA, multimedia & digital producer in film and television, producing documentaries, commercials, and other content for broadcasting networks. For her humanitarian work with Amnesty International, UNICEF and the UN, she was awarded the Inspirational Award form Reverend Jesse Jackson. In 2022 she set up the London offices for Cairo News Network, as their executive producer. Salma has worked with high-profile government officials, celebrities, and athletes some of whom include: Mo Salah, Andrea Bocelli, and Ralph Fiennes. She is the current recipient of the VC Scholarship, for an Arts PhD in Virtual Reality. Her research focuses on developing a tool for suicide prevention through immersive technologies.
