Visitors guidance
Liverpool John Moores is an inclusive civic university and we welcome many visitors to our campuses every year. The vast majority of our visitors are on-site for a very brief period of time and will not require any independent access to our buildings or have any need for temporary IT access. There are protocols in place for such situations to report a visitor and this guidance should not be used for these types of visitors.
A visitor for the purpose of this guidance is anyone who is not an LJMU employee or student and who comes to LJMU on a temporary basis and requires access to our facilities including IT, buildings, and laboratory spaces.
This guidance covers three types of visitors:
- Contingent workers: Although they are not employees, the designation in Oracle/Staff Infobase for them is Contingent Worker and includes agency workers, external examiners, consultants and work experience.
- Honorary Visiting Positions: The award of an Honorary Visiting Position is to recognise an individual’s extensive contribution to the activities of LJMU.
- Academic Visitor: Academic Visitor status can be requested for academic colleagues from other institutions to reflect the collaborative nature of academia, without bestowing an honorary title.
Please use the relevant tiles below for additional information and processes to be followed for each type.
