Your handbook to navigating the Research and Knowledge Exchange environment

The handbook has been designed to guide researchers through all aspects of research and knowledge exchange (RKE) at LJMU and to encourage interdisciplinary research across the university. RKE is a vital part of university activity and is a key element of LJMU’s Strategy 2030.

Whether you’re an early career researcher, you’ve recently joined LJMU, or you’re an experienced academic wanting to pursue a specific RKE activity for the first time, this handbook is for you.

Information includes:

  • an introduction to key teams, contacts and sources of support
  • an outline of important considerations for the initial phase of a RKE project including intellectual property, ethics, and impact and engagement
  • a summary of external and internal sources of funding, the application process and calculating your funding costs
  • an overview of post-award and post-contract activities and processes
  • guidance on capturing, managing and curating research data
  • a summary of the researcher training provided by LJMU

We will continue to develop handbook content and welcome feedback from LJMU researchers to ensure it meets your information needs.
