Grading of new and existing vacant roles
In cases where the business area wishes to create a new role (please note a new role will usually be vacant) managers must submit the new job description for evaluation to the Reward and Recognition Team.
For the replacement of existing vacant posts there will also be a check to make sure that any changes to the job description do not have an impact on the grading of the role.
Please note:
Where it is anticipated that the changes to an existing role may potentially result in an increase in grade then this should be submitted via the Change to grade review process.
The recruiting line manager is responsible for preparing the job description and person specification. This should be done on the standard JD template, unless there is a generic profile for the role. This is to ensure that the latest information relating to recruitment and employment at the university is communicated to applicants.
The turnaround time for the evaluation of a new or changed vacant role is ten working days from receipt of all required documentation, however the process may take longer if additional information is required.
