I am Emeritus Professor at LJMU. Previously as Professor of Research in Educational Technology at LJMU, I led the research group of the same name (R-Ed.Tech) in the Centre for Educational Research and Evaluation Services (CERES) at Liverpool John Moores University's IM Marsh campus. I was previously a Reader in the Institute of Educational Technology at the Open University and before that I was a research lecturer in the Department of Educational Research at Lancaster University.
My teaching was largely at postgraduate level and most of it was conducted online and at a distance. I was a module chair and author on the Open University Masters in Online and Distance Education and prior to that I was the Deputy Director of the MSc in Advance Learning Technology at Lancaster University. I have also worked on structured doctoral programmes, the EdD at the Open University and a PhD doctoral programme in Educational Research at Lancaster University and I have supervised a number standard PhD’s to completion.
