Applying directly to LJMU

Applying through an educational agent

LJMU works with a network of education agents that can assist you when applying to studying with us. Our agent partners are committed to ensuring you meet the entry requirements to submit an application to study at Liverpool John Moores University.

  1. Supporting documents

    To support your application you will need to provide the following supporting documents with your application.

    • Personal statement (outline your reasons for wanting to study the programme).
    • English language proficiency test.
    • Qualifications (official certificate and transcripts confirming your overall classification).
    • Copy of passport (must be valid at least until the date you arrive in the UK).
    • Academic reference (must be on official letterhead paper, signed, dated by your referee and contain their professional contact details). If you have been out of education for more than five years, please provide an employer reference.
    • Any current or previously held UK Visas or BRPs.

    We may request additional or alternative documents whilst processing your application.

    Meet your conditions

    If your application is successful, we will make you an offer. Your offer will come in the form of an email with your official offer letter attached. Simply accept or decline your offer by clicking on the appropriate button in your email.

    Please note:
    You do not need to know your examination results to accept your offer.

  2. Pay your deposit

    If you have met the entry requirements and accepted your offer and are self funded you are required to pay a deposit of £5,000. You can find the relevant deposit deadline on the international application dates webpage.

    Your payment must be made via Flywire.

  3. Request your CAS

    Before you can apply for permission to enter or remain in the UK under student route you will require a valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). Once you are eligible to being your CAS application, you will be sent an email link to the Enroly CAS Shield system.

  4. Apply for your visa

    If you are being supported by an education agent, they will be able to assist you with your visa application. If you are applying directly you can find more information on applying for a visa depending on whether you are in the UK or in your home country by, visiting the study visas webpage.

  5. ATAS

    ATAS approval is a security clearance scheme, which applies to all international students and researchers (apart from exempt nationalities). If your programme requires ATAS approval, you will not be able to apply for a student visa until this has been granted. Find more information about ATAS guidance.

  6. DBS

    Some courses will require you to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, to enrol on the course. As an international student you will only be able to submit your DBS application once you are physically in the UK.

    There are four simple steps to completing your DBS application.

    Step 1: Submit your personal details.

    Step 2: Disclose any criminal convictions.

    Step 3: Upload your documents.

    Step 4: Video ID check.

  7. Occupational Health

    Students joining the university on Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Science, Pharmacy, Social Work or Teaching must complete a fitness to practise health questionnaire.

    Please familiarise yourself with the vaccinations required. More information can be found on our Immunisations webpage.

    Please note:
    The fitness to practise assessment is mandatory.

    To complete the health assessment, please visit your Applicant Hub and select on the health questionnaire.

    To log into the LJMU Applicant Hub you will need your LJMU ID which is in your offer letter

    Appointments

    After reviewing your submitted health questionnaire, someone from the Occupational Health will contact you by email or telephone with an appointment. This appointment will either be by phone, teams, or face to face.

    If you have not declared any health issues you will not require an initial screening appointment. Your status will be updated as ‘Fit to Study/Enrol’ and you will not be contacted until your vaccination appointments are due.

    Please note:
    Failure to do this (attend occupational health appointments) may lead to removal from your programme.

    You may be initially assessed as fit to study. This will allow you to enrol on your programme. It is essential that you complete any additional requirements to be classified as fit to practise to go out on placement.

    We do advise all students who need to complete occupational health checks to plan to be in the UK ahead of the start of the programme.
