Martin is a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Educational Leadership at Liverpool John Moores University, where he is part of the team delivering educational leadership programmes and executive coaching.
Martin has held leadership posts in secondary, further and higher education, including two secondary headships, an Assistant Principalship in FE, and the leadership of Initial Teacher Training programmes and an HE Centre. Martin has been a Governor in primary, FE and Pupil Referral Unit settings, including as Chair. He has Fellowships of the Chartered Management Institute, the Royal Society of Arts and the Higher Education Academy, and is a Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching. He is also a member of the British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS).
Martin is a Chartered Manager and an Affiliate Member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, committed to continuing professional development which delivers measurable impact, with a focus on developing people and capabilities through coaching to improve performance. He is also a Microsoft Certified Educator, engaged with technology enhanced learning and curriculum development for the twenty-first century. Martin has been an External Examiner at Canterbury Christ Church University and De Montfort University. This range of experience informs Martin's work across the Centre for Educational Leadership.
Martin holds MEd and MBA degrees and is currently a postgraduate research student in the School of Education, undertaking specific research in referent leadership, ethics, and a holistic approach to the education and professional development support of educational leaders, which is the focus of his current professional doctorate studies.
Martin is committed to education and leadership as transformative influences, which inspire individuals and communities to fulfil dreams and achieve ambitions.
