Paul has worked at LJMU since 1998. In that time Paul has taught on a wide variety of teacher training programmes both at Undergraduate Level and Postgraduate QTS.

From 2008 -2014 Paul led the LJMU Teach First Programme and from 2014-18 he was Primary Programme Leader. Paul's current role is route leader for PGDE secondary mathematics.

Paul cowrote the book How Big is a Big Number with his colleague Sarah Hindhaugh, and he is on the Editorial Team for Mathematics Teaching, the magazine of the Association on Teaching Mathematics (ATM).
