A combined degree in Classics and Spanish, followed by a MSc in Applied Facilities Management, created a diverse academic background upon which to lever into nursing. The knowledge attained laid strong foundations to understanding how digitalisation has reshaped workplace operability and functionality for service users. With care experience in a nursing home and supported living environment, I noted workplace functionality and optimisation were pivotal to ensuring the provision of person-centred care. This led to undertaking a nursing degree and graduating during the Covid-19 pandemic, wherein I worked clinically on a general medical and surgical ward before transferring to critical care.
I am now an adult nurse lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University. I am module leader for a level 6 module on Complex Care for adult students, as well as teaching on a range of modules within the pre-registration nursing programme and top-up nursing associate programme.
