Dr Julie-Ann Hayes

Julie is a Senior Lecturer within the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice and is the Programme Leader for the Professional Doctorate in Health (DPPH) and the Athena Swan Lead.
She is a registered nurse with experience ranging from General Medicine and Surgery to Intensive Care and High Dependency Nursing.
Her teaching expertise is within Medical Law and Ethics and she teaches across several programmes within the faculty and module leads on the BSc and MSc programmes.

Julie is the Postgraduate Research Co-ordinator for the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice. She is deputy chair of the FRDC. and co-leading Work package 1 EDEPI project, which is recruiting NHS students from Black and Ethnic minority background on to PhD programmes.. Julie Is a member of the LJMU Disabled Researcher Network. Julie is the lead for the research theme of 'Supporting Professional Practice' within the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice. Julie supervises PhD candidates within the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice in a range of projects. Julie also supervisors Masters dissertation projects across schools within the Faculty.

Julie is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is a 'Recognised Research Supervisor' with the UK Council for Graduate Education (UKCGE). Julie is also a reviewer for the UKCGE.

Julie commenced her PhD in 2012 following the successful completion of the MRes at LJMU and she completed her PhD in 2016.
Julie's research interests are Professional Conduct, Fitness to Practise and Doctoral Support and her methodology interest is located in Qualitative Research and specifically Case Study Research.
