Nursing and Advanced Practice

Faculty of Health

I am currently a lecturer at Liverpool John Moorse University (LJMU) on the BSC pre-registration programme. I completed my BSC (Hons) in Adult Nursing at LJMU. Once a qualified Registered Adult Nurse, I started working in an Accident and Emergency Department which was a regional trauma centre. This role included looking after seriously ill patients and patients who needed an overnight stay for observation. Within this role I was liaising with multiple specialities such as Mental health team and other hospitals. Once I had the experience from the accident and emergency department, I moved onto working within the local walk in centre, gaining knowledge and experience, in clinical examination and diagnosis in adults and children. Within my 4 years working at the walk in centre, I moved up into a nurse practitioner role and completed my clinical examination course at LJMU.

Within my Nurse Practitioner role, was where I found my love for teaching and imparting my knowledge on undergraduate nurses, helping inspire them and give them the confidence they need. I began searching for a way into academia and gained a year’s experience at Edge Hill University where it cemented my love for teaching. Which is when I made the transition to LJMU.
