Biography
I am an accomplished and dedicated member of the Mental Health Nursing profession with extensive clinical and academic experience. In 2020, I joined Liverpool John Moores University as a full time Senior Lecturer, following 18 years of diverse roles within Mental Health Practice across the North West of England and Wales. My professional journey has encompassed acute and community mental health nursing, elderly care, and crisis resolution. Notably, I was among the first Advanced Mental Health Practitioners within the Early Intervention Team for Psychosis, subsequently assuming managerial responsibilities for the team. Furthermore, I contributed to the establishment of crisis resolution and home treatment teams in both England and Wales. Over the years, I developed a particular expertise in psychosis, refining my skills in clinical intervention and service development.
Within the university setting, I engage in both pre-registration and post-registration programmes, facilitate the coordination of mental health nursing placements, and serve as an academic assesor and personal tutor. My experience as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner has also involved managing large nursing teams and contributing to curriculum design. I take pride in supporting the development of the nursing workforce through the design and implementation of academic modules.
Beyond my university role, I am actively involved in advancing the field of mental health nursing at a broader level. I contribute to the development of Advanced Practice Nurse courses and provide supervision for Suicide Prevention Services within the local community. My professional endeavors remain centered on enhancing mental health care through education, clinical practice, and service innovation.
