Paul Miller is an academic member of staff (with teaching duties). Paul leads the Human Movement Level 4 module which is a required course to all the School of Sport and Exercise Science students where he delivers the skill acquisition components. He also teaches on the BSc (Hons) Physical Education, and BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching courses at levels 4, 5 and 6 where he delivers both theoretical and practical aspects ranging from applied pedagogy to the interactions of sport, physical education and society. He is a personal tutor to level 4,5 and 6 students and also supervises undergraduate dissertation students on topics related to Physical Education and sports coaching.
Paul is currently working towards his PhD in Performance Psychology and Management at Loughborough University which focuses on the concept of thriving in coaches working in elite sport, with an aim to construct evidence-based strategies to assist those attempting to thrive in sporting arenas. His other research interests focus on coaching, teaching and learning, and performance in sporting connected fields. Paul is a member of the coaching and pedagogy research group in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences.
Paul is a highly experienced physical education teacher with more than 25 years of secondary school experience working in schools across Merseyside and has substantial experience as both a Head of Sport, and as a Head of Faculty leading multiple subject areas and teams accordingly. Specialising in Rugby Union he coached development pathway teams to regional level. Paul is a member of the Association for Physical Education (AfPE).
Paul also co-founded a sports coaching company that provided school holiday period activities which uniquely gave 8-16 yr. olds an insight into how elite performers prepare in the worlds of hockey, football, rugby, and cricket.
