Dr Theodoros Bampouras is currently a Senior Lecturer in Research Methods for the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences. Theo is a member of the Biomechanics Research Group in the School, while externally he is the Membership representative for the Division of Biomechanics and Motor Behaviour, British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences. He has also coached water-polo at various levels from academy to national level teams.

Theo’s research interests span over several areas such as muscle performance, mechanics and function, ageing, measurement validity and reliability, athletic training and performance assessment, while his research includes athletic, older and clinical populations. Since 2006, he has published >70 peer-reviewed articles in international Journals and presented >50 papers in national and international conferences. He has received funding from various national and international funding agencies (e.g. Medical Research Council, Academic Health Science Network, Sport England, Intuitive Foundation, Erasmus+) as Principal or Co-Investigator in various projects, ranging from gait and gaze relationship in older individuals to assessment of muscle strength in individuals with total hip replacement. The most recent project Theo is involved with is an educational and training program for older adults at risk of developing dementia (https://www.haltproject.eu/), funded by Erasmus+ (~€394,000),

Theo is supervising 5 external PhD students, he is a Senior Editorial Board Member for BMC Sports Science, Medicine and Rehabilitation, an Academic Editor for PLOS One and Review Editor for Frontiers in Sports and Active Living (Biomechanics and Control of Human Movement), while he regularly reviews for a wide range of Journals (>70 verified reviews in Web of Science).
