Progress on new curriculum management system

CourseLoop

Academic colleagues welcomed the Australian company delivering our new curriculum management system to LJMU for a series of productive in-person sessions. CourseLoop will replace our existing ProdCat and ModCat platforms and provide a more efficient and intuitive way of working.

CourseLoop will make managing and developing curriculum information much simpler and less time-consuming and integrate seamlessly with our other systems.

The project is academically-led and significant progress has been made since work formally started in October.

A series of interactive workshops have taken place to shape the new system around LJMU’s specific requirements. The first in-person meetings with CourseLoop last week were a valuable opportunity to review progress and discuss the next steps with this crucial piece of work.

Staff will be able to find out more about the new system over the coming weeks, with a number of faculty presentations, user training sessions and an overview of CourseLoop at the Students at the Heart conference in June.

Professor Clare Milsom, Registrar and Chief Operating Officer (interim), said: “I’m delighted with the progress we are making with the design and testing of the new CourseLoop system, which will have a significant positive impact on the way we work.

“After working so productively together remotely over recent months, it was fantastic to welcome the CourseLoop team to LJMU and discuss the next steps of the project face-to-face.

“We are now looking forward to demonstrating the new system to academic staff and other colleagues across the university over the coming months.”

The project is being delivered in five phases, with the first scheduled to go live in September 2022.

If you have any questions about the project, please contact Gerard Lyons, the IT Project Manager.
