Congratulations to our graduates in Shanghai!

Our warmest congratulations to LJMU graduates in Shanghai!

More than 100 engineering students were hosted by LJMU and the Sino-British College of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (SBC-USST) for a ceremony at the graduands’ annual celebration.

The college was co-established in 2006 by the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and eight British universities including LJMU, the University of Sheffield the University of Leeds, and Sheffield Hallam.

Gao Lingyue, a graduate from Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme, who won Best Student on an IET-Accredited Course is headed for postgraduate study in Nanyang Technological University in the field of electronics.

Speaking on behalf of all graduates, she expressed deep gratitude to the two partner institutions for helping people to realise their dreams.

Gao (pictured, front page) said: “As a model of Eastern-Western cooperative education, SBC and LJMU have deepened my understanding and respect for diverse cultural traditions and values. I am honoured to continue my studies in the field of electronics. They are not just the result of my personal efforts but also a reflection of the education and support provided by SBC and LJMU.”

Professor Laura Bishop, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Science at LJMU, attended the ceremony along with Dr Julia Wang, Director of International Relations; Dr Christian Matthews, Director of the School of Engineering, and Dr Denise Lee, Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusivity and Programme Leader in Civil Engineering.

Professor Bishop said: “Internationalisation is very important to LJMU as we shape our contribution to the world’s future. The focus of our international strategy is identifying and working with likeminded institutions around the world – SBC and USST share the spirit and ethos of Liverpool John Moores University.”
