Paul Robinson is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion at Liverpool John Moores University. Trained as a fashion designer, pattern cutter and educator. Robinson has worked in and around the fashion industry since 2008.
Robinson began his career working for globally recognised brands such as Jaeger and Albert Ferretti and one of his collections Jaeger Black was one of the most successful and exported worldwide. Teaching and learning fashion design and garment construction is Paul's expertise. In particular creative pattern cutting leading to experimental & innovative fashion design. Paul is an experienced design consultant.
Paul is currently collaborating with critically acclaimed established menswear designer Christopher Shannon and developing a partnership with the renowned Tom of Finland Foundation in Berlin, London and Los Angeles to mark the 40th anniversary of the artist’s namesake foundation.

Liverpool is famed for its casuals and sportswear culture within a particular masculine realm related to the cultural tropes of the are historically and visually. In a collaborative 3D development project with Christopher Shannon, we foster a visual dialogue focussed around experimental pattern cutting for varied exploratory pieces around the theme of deconstructing Northern Maleness. Beginning with staple men's garments our ongoing conversation aims to develop a visual language specific to growing up in the north west. We aim to disrupt and explore this narrative further working towards showing pieces in editorial shoots and gallery environments.. 2022
Club Class will research & explore the unseen, erased, overlooked and marginalised archives, voices, and materials from Liverpool’s diverse sub-culture through the independent, DIY, pop-up gay (LGBTQ) music scenes charting the sonic, political & social eruptions in gay (LGBTQ) clubs and communities with the aim of reclaiming and constructing a fuller history of the city’s often forgotten gay (LGBTQ) scenes and their wider influence upon British pop, music and club culture..
