Dr Holly Devlin works in the School of Justice Studies as a Senior Lecturer in Law and Criminal Justice. Holly joined the School in September 2022.

She is module leader for 4029LAWCJ Human Rights, Social Justice and the Law, 5035LAWCJ European Criminal Law, 5036LAWCJ Criminal Evidence, and 5020LAWCJ Professional Development. She is also a tutor on the 6016LAWCJ Dissertation module. Prior to joining LJMU, Holly was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Edge Hill University where she taught across a range of core undergraduate modules on the LLB (Hons) Law degree, including; Criminal Law, Tort Law, and Public Law.

Holly's research interests include international criminal law, international human rights law, public international law, and the processes of judicial dialogue and cross-fertilisation. She is a member of the International Law and Human Rights Cluster at the Centre for Study of Law in Theory and Practice (LTAP), based in the School of Law at LJMU.

She completed her PhD in April 2024, passing without corrections. Her PhD thesis considers the inconsistent treatment of the legality principle before a range of international criminal tribunals and the European Court of Human Rights. Holly intends to develop her PhD research into a monograph.
