Dr. Yun Sheng is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Computer Science and Mathematics, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Surrey‚ U.K. He has worked as Research Fellow at the University of Surrey, University of Bath and Nanyang Technological University, taking part in the research projects funded by major research bodies, such as the EU FP6, EPSRC and Singaporean government, before he took on the associate professorship at East China Normal University in 2011. He joint LJMU as Senior Lecturer in 2019. His research interests cover a wide spectrum of hotspot areas in Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Multimedia Computing, Creative Arts and Generative AI. In particular, his recent research has focused mainly on how to use Generative AI technologies to bridge the gap between Visual Computing and Digital Arts, which has also received the Platinum Best Paper award of the International Conference on Multimedia and Expo 2018 (ICME'18), a leading conference of IEEE in Multimedia.
He is a member of Eurographics and Secretary of the Eurographics UK Chapter (EGUK). He has been regularly serving as a peer reviewer in a series of international conferences, journals and funding bodies, and as programme committee member of a number of international conferences. Currently, he is helping organise the 43rd conference of Computer Graphics and Visual Computing, which will take place in Liverpool in September, 2025.
Yun is constantly welcoming potential PhD candidates and visiting scholars to collaborate with on those cutting edge research areas. For more detail, please get in touch with him directly. But before you start reaching out you need to take the following into account:
Yun usually adopts a GAN-style supervision method. If you know what this means, then you can imagine what role you will play, as well as the role he will be. However, Yun believes after the whole training your outcomes and his expectations will finally converge. Hopefully, such a supervision setup will enable the generation of search outcomes high in quality rather than in quantity.
