Dr Huanhuan Li has been a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Engineering, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) since April 2024. From 2021 to 2024, she served as a Research Fellow at LJMU, and prior to that, she held a Research Fellow position at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore from 2020 to 2021. Dr Li received her PhD from the School of Navigation and her MSc from the School of Science at Wuhan University of Technology, China.

Her research focuses on key areas such as maritime safety and security, intelligent transportation systems, green shipping, autonomous shipping, and onshore/offshore clean energy. Dr Li is also an experienced reviewer for over 40 leading journals. She has published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, including 14 in prestigious transportation journals (Transportation Research Part C, D, and E) and 6 in Reliability Engineering & System Safety.

She has actively contributed to academic teaching in various capacities. She has served as a teaching assistant for multiple courses, including Research Methods, Research Skills, Operations Research, and Maritime Economics and Management, where she supported lecturers in guiding students and facilitating discussions. In addition to her role as a teaching assistant, she has independently delivered two comprehensive modules: Fundamentals of Transport Systems and Transport Systems Control.
