Joanne qualified in 2005 after training at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing at Kings College University London and is a member of the Nightingale Fellowship. Joanne has worked clinically across a range of clinical settings including coronary care, cardiothoracic intensive care, community nursing, practice nursing and later as an advanced practitioner in general practice. Having always had a passion for education, Joanne moved into higher education in 2018 and has taught across levels 4, 5, 6 & 7 for pre-registration nursing and advanced practice. Joanne joined LJMU in 2021 as a Senior Lecturer and is now a Principal Lecturer and Apprenticeship Lead for the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice. With interests in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Joanne is also the Diversity & Inclusion Champion for the School, supporting the Associate Dean for EDI. Joanne is a peer learning group tutor on the PGCert in Academic Practice and has particular interests in inclusive pedagogy, supporting the transition of academics from practice to higher education, health inequality and primary care and has led a number of Masters programmes including the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Degree apprenticeship.
Joanne is a PhD student at Lancaster University on the Higher Education: Research, Evaluation and Enhancement programme.
