Dr Tori Sprung is an academic member of staff, with teaching responsibilities. Tori teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across the Physiology and Physical Activity themes.

Tori's research interests centre around lifestyle related long-term conditions, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Moreover, Tori has a particular interest in the effectiveness of physical activity interventions as a non-pharmacological management strategy in disease management. Currently, Tori is working on enhancing exercise prescription for a range of clinical populations using mobile health technology.

Tori also has a particular interest in women's health. She manages a portfolio of research examining i) the relationship between physical activity & health during pregnancy and post-partum and ii) the relationship between physical activity and fertility status in collaboration with Liverpool Women's Hospital.

Tori is the Strategic Lead for equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the School of Sport & Exercise Science and Chair of the RIDE Panel (Respect, Inclusion, Diversity & Equity); this involves the oversight of various working groups and projects that aspire to embed the principles of EDI into every facet of the school. Tori led the first successful departmental Athena Swan award in the University and now mentors others across the institution. She sits on various University Panels and Committees that work towards achieving EDI aspirations such as the Institutional Athena SWAN working group. Tori also represents this line of work Nationally as a member of the BASES EDI Advisory Group and an active reviewer of Athena Swan applications for AdvanceHE.
