Where you can study

Study periods

The International Study Abroad exchange programme is available to current full-time students at LJMU, where it is validated within your undergraduate programme of study. You must not be trailing any modules at the point of departure and should have good grades and attendance.

Programmes can be validated for both or either study abroad duration:

  • Current level 4 - Semester 2 of level 5
  • Current level 5 - Additional year of study between level 5 and 6

For further information you can self-register on the Study Abroad Canvas module NCIR01.

To find out where and when you can go, please go to your My LJMU and click on the Global Opportunities button.

Partners

LJMU has over 80 partners worldwide, however, partnership are subject specific and are based upon their subject provision, modules delivered in English and contractual requirements.

Please note:
Each partner teaches in English for the programmes included in our partnership, but if you do have language skills that can be proven (formal qualifications or can be tested prior to departure) then you will have more module options.

If you would like to discuss your options, then please speak to your IMC, come to an Information Session or go to the Global Lounge in SLB from 10-4, Monday to Friday during term time to talk to a Global Champion.

We will always endeavour to secure an exchange placement for as many students as we possibly can, but due to high demand in some countries, we cannot guarantee a destination. For example, we only have approximately one place for every five applications in competitive destinations such as the USA and Canada. If unsuccessful for your first-choice university, we will ask you if you want to be allocated to another available place. You will then be able to consider this and decide if you want to accept the placement.

Language of instruction

LJMU partners with universities who teach in English either wholly or in certain subject areas.

Visa requirements

Students will need to secure visa’s based on their nationality and you should refer to host countries regulations. Further information will be provided by hosts but you can find further information on the government website.
