Telling the stories of our people for our Bicentenary

Since the start of our Bicentenary year, we’ve been curating profiles that tell the stories of our people from the past, the present and those shaping and changing the future for the better.

With more than 120 stories already completed, why not delve into the online repository and discover the people who have shaped, and been shaped by, LJMU? 

We’ve looked back at some of our founding figures, who were courageous in their pursuit of providing education for the city of Liverpool, who set up our forerunner institutes and colleges that eventually became the Liverpool Polytechnic and then Liverpool John Moore’s University.

Alongside historical figures, we’ve discovered stories of current students and our amazing alumni, as well as university Chancellors, academics and support staff who all have their own LJMU story to tell.

One of our latest profiles tells the story of our current Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, Professor Clare Milsom, who joined as a young lecturer in 1991 and was present at the inauguration ceremony when the polytechnic became a university. With the ‘transformative power of education’ being a running theme throughout her own academic pursuits, then through her teaching and leadership roles, her story puts ‘students at the front and centre in all we do’.

We will continue to travel through the decades reflecting on the people who have shaped the modern university that we see today, and individual stories of those who have been able to learn, develop and grow at LJMU.
