LJMU ranked in top 400 universities worldwide for commitment to Sustainable Development Goals

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has placed in the top 300-400 institutions world-wide, in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for the second year in a row.

The rankings also place LJMU in the top 60 universities in the UK.

This is the second year LJMU has submitted to the rankings, which outlines the university’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

An additional 500 universities submitted to Times Higher Education Impact Rankings this year, which use key indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.

This year the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings received more submissions than ever before. To maintain our position in the top 300-400 institutions worldwide and 60 in the UK is extremely positive.

Professor Keith George, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Research and Knowledge Exchange

Professor Keith George, who is also Chair of the Sustainable Development Goals Steering Group, added: “I’d like to thank our students and staff for their hard work in supporting and highlighting the university’s commitment to the goals. We are proud of our passion and purpose to continue to broaden our high-impact research and knowledge exchange, to not only align with the goals, but truly make a difference, transforming lives and futures through our people, who provide excellent education as well as delivering solutions to multiple global challenges.”

LJMU provided evidence submissions for seven of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals including:

4. Quality Education

12. Responsible consumption and production

13. Climate action

15. Life on land

16. Peace, justice and strong institutions
