Top 50 for LJMU in The Guardian's latest rankings



The Guardian has released its latest rankings of top UK universities with Liverpool John Moores University rising to 42nd place.

The latest rankings have seen LJMU jump 12 positions up the league table, from 54th place last year, securing a top 50 spot and representing the university’s strongest ever ranking in the league table. 

Key areas of the rankings

The Guardian bases its university rankings on factors like how happy students are with their teaching, how many students leave before finishing and what graduates go on to do after their studies. 

The university scored particularly high in key areas with 86% of students satisfied with teaching and 82% satisfied with feedback and assessment (taken from the data by final year students in the latest NSS results), plus 91.2% of first year students continuing to second year. 

Top 20 in key subject areas 

LJMU also placed particularly high in key subject areas for:

  • 6th for Health Professions
  • 7th for International Relations
  • 7th for Pharmacy and Pharmacology
  • 10th for Accounting and Finance
  • 16th for Interior Design
  • 18th for Social Work
  • 20th for Construction, Surveying and Planning
  • 20th for Paramedic Science
