Students connect with cosmetic science and pharmaceutical industry experts
Prospective employers from across the cosmetic science and pharmaceutical science industry visited LJMU this week to meet with more than 90 LJMU students.
Businesses including AstraZeneca and Unilever attended to offer general advice and career guidance to students studying MSc Cosmetic Science, MSc Drug Discovery, Development and Delivery and BSc Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science. Opportunities for summer work placements available to current MSc students were also outlined.
Other speakers included former students, such as BSc Pharmaceutical Science graduate Ebony Dickinson, who described completing a sandwich year and how this experience ultimately led to a role at AstraZeneca. MSc Cosmetic Science graduate Victoria Guildi reflected on having been in the audience the previous year, recognising how the students felt, and explained how she is now working for a company associated with Unilever.
Organised by Dr Amanda Boddis, Dr Alistair Fielding and Dr Steve Enoch from the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science, with support from recruitment and employability colleagues, the annual event enables students to gain confidence in talking to potential employers and to understand more about the application process for roles in the industry.
All organisations in attendance: AstraZeneca, Croda Europe Ltd, Innospec, Mast Group Limited, Meiyume, No 7 Company, Orean, Society of Cosmetic Scientists, Thornton & Ross, TRI Princeton, Unilever, 2M Holdings and Surfachem, ALS, and Inter Scientific.
