Wobble Week 2026 activities

Week six in our academic calendar - Monday 26 to Friday 30 October - is recognised as a key point where students might experience a ‘wobble’. For some this might be feeling uncertain, overwhelmed or unsure, and you might be at any stage of your studies.

Our Student Life and Wellbeing teams have arranged a series of activities during Wobble Week to normalise these feelings and remind you that we are well prepared to support you across the university.

Events programme for Wobble Week

Lunchtime tapping workshop: Tuesday 27 October, 12midday to 1pm, online

Learn more about overcoming anxiety with The Zen Project who specialise in wellbeing events.

In this relaxed online session, you’ll get an introduction to Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) tapping: a simple, science-informed self-help tool where you gently tap on points on your face and body while talking through what you're feeling. It can help take the edge off stress in minutes, and once you know it, you can use it anywhere. Before a seminar, during a deadline crunch, or at 2am when your brain won't switch off.

Maintenance loan survival session: Wednesday 28 October, 1pm to 2pm, Student Life Building room 2.08

That maintenance loan drops, rent takes most of it, and suddenly you’re surviving on iced coffee and noodles. Join our 60-minute maintenance loan survival session with our Money Advice team. No boring maths, no judgment—just real hacks to find your weekly ‘safe to spend’ number and how to get the most out of student discounts.

Sunset walk: Wednesday 28 October, 5.30pm to 7pm, Everton Park (meet at the Sport Building)

Join us for a walk around Everton Park where you can experience an amazing view of the Liverpool skyline.

Led by physical wellbeing staff, you will have the opportunity to meet other students and build friendships through getting outdoors and moving together.

Regular sunset walks are hosted throughout the year and are open to all students. You don't need to be an LJMU Move member or have any previous involvement with the Sport Building to attend.

Interactive wellbeing workshop: Thursday 29 October, 2pm to 3pm, Student Life Building room UG.15

This one-hour interactive workshop, led by our Mental Health Advisory and Student Wellbeing team, explores how stress can affect your mental wellbeing, including anxiety, low mood, poor concentration, sleep difficulties, and avoidance.

Using the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) concept of ‘wise mind’, you'll learn practical strategies to stay grounded, manage challenging emotions, and respond effectively during difficult situations.

Writing for wellbeing: Friday 30 October, 1pm to 2pm, online

Part of our regular Bibliotherapy event series – which uses reading and writing to support wellbeing – this session in Wobble Week will focus on writing without rules, creating a safe space to reflect, process emotions, and reconnect with yourself.

You do not need to be a writer to attend the workshop, just a willingness to take part and go with wherever your writing takes you.
