Academic Board Vacancies 2026/27
The Secretariat is seeking expressions of interest from eligible LJMU staff to serve as members of Academic Board commencing during the 2026/27 academic year.
Vacancies available
Expressions of interest are invited for the following vacancies:
- 8 Academic Staff members (Grades 7-10; 4 vacancies from each Faculty)
- 1 School Director from the Faculty of Society and Culture
- 2 members of the Professoriate (excluding Directors) from the Faculty of Society and Culture
- 1 Professional Services Staff member from Faculty-based Professional Services
- 1 Professional Services Staff member from Central Professional Services
Membership is held for a period of three years and the Secretariat looks forward to hearing from interested colleagues from across the LJMU community.

About the Academic Board
Academic Board is the principal academic body of the university, responsible for overseeing the overall planning, co-ordination, development and supervision of the academic work of the institution, taking into account LJMU Strategy 2030 and its supporting plans.
The Academic Board is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor & Chief Executive and the Board of Governors for providing guidance, advice and assurance that academic governance is and remains effective.

The Secretariat is committed to supporting an Academic Board that reflects the diversity of the LJMU community and upholds the university’s wider commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion. Expressions of interest are welcomed from all eligible staff, with particular encouragement extended to colleagues from groups that are currently underrepresented.
Process for filling the vacancies
Following the expression of interest stage, formal nominations will be sought over a two-week period. If more completed nominations are received than there are vacancies within a particular category, an election will be held. Further information regarding the election process and next steps will be provided at that stage.
