Staying in Liverpool - Graduating manager Millie

BSc Business Management graduate Millie Youngs is staying in Liverpool for the job, the friendships and her champion dog, Jess!

Millie has landed an account management and sales role with Birkenhead-based company Industrial Fragrances and will live on the Wirral.

She admits to falling in love with the city and never thought of going anywhere else after her three-year course at Liverpool Business School.

“It’s a difficult job market but there are definitely opportunities and thankfully the university was very proactive. I actually got wind of the Industrial Fragrances post through the careers service (Student Futures).

Crufts

“The company has a welcoming culture with great work environment that allows me to showcase all the skills I have learned at LJMU!”

Staying local also allows Millie to maintain a network of support which has helped her and her beloved springer spaniel to compete at Crufts and leading dog shows.

Millie and Jess are two-time qualifiers for the ‘dog agility’ World Championships Team - winning a silver medal in the Wales team relay – a sideline which has enabled her to travel internationally with the support of LJMU.

“They’ve allowed me time off for training and competition,” says a grateful Millie, who was at first apprehensive about leaving the Shropshire hills for gritty Liverpool.

“I thought it might be difficult at first to settle in Liverpool, but I quickly realised that this was a new life for me and it took it head on. I fell in love with the vibrancy of the place and have now made Liverpool my second home with my years here.

“I found life-long friendships from being in the university through badminton and through my course.”

Wednesday at graduation

Millie Youngs was among more than 1,200 graduates who received awards at Liverpool Cathedral on Wednesday 22 July.

Wednesday's graduates were from:

  • Liverpool Business School
