Entry requirements
Our entry requirements are designed to recognise a range of qualifications and experiences. The criteria below provide general guidance and may vary depending on your chosen course.
Undergraduate Entry
We accept a variety of qualifications for undergraduate study, including:
- Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate (COHSC)
- East African / Kenyan Advanced Certificate
- Ordinary, Higher, or University Diplomas
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)
Foundation Year Entry (Degree with Foundation Programme)
If you do not yet meet the requirements for direct entry, our foundation programmes provide a pathway to a full degree.
You will need:
- KCSE with a minimum C+ in at least 4 subjects (including relevant subjects)
- English: minimum grade C
If your English grade is D or below:
You will need to demonstrate English proficiency (e.g. IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).
Direct Entry to Year 1
You may be eligible to start directly in Year 1 if you meet the following:
- KCSE with 7 or 8 examinable subjects
- A B+ average across at least 7 subjects
- English: minimum grade C
Additional requirements may apply, such as an audition, portfolio, or written submission depending on your course.
Postgraduate Entry
For postgraduate study, you will need:
- A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
- A minimum of 2:2 / 50% / Lower Second Class honours or above
For Engineering and Technology programmes, a ‘Good’ classification is accepted.
English Language Requirements
We accept a range of English language qualifications:
- KCSE English (Grade C or above) is accepted as an alternative to IELTS
- If required, you may also submit:
- IELTS
- Pearson PTE Academic
- TOEFL iBT
Please note:
- Requirements may vary by course
- Additional qualifications may be accepted depending on your country
- Applicants from majority English-speaking countries may not need additional tests
