The Liverpool School of Art and Creative Industries offers a range of first-rate facilities for students and staff. These include specially designed studios and award-winning buildings. Key locations are the John Lennon Art and Design Building, the Redmonds Building and the John Foster Drama Studio.

John Lennon Art and Design Building

Our John Lennon Art and Design Building was designed by leading architect Rick Mather and was awarded the RIBA award for Architecture. This iconic six-storey building offers purpose-built art and design facilities with seminar rooms, galleries, exhibition space, cafe, social spaces and stunning roof terraces with spectacular city views.

Skills workshop

Our school is equipped with quality workshops, including those related to:

• technology
• laser scanning equipment
• 3D-printers
• modelling
• texturing
• animation
• haptic reconstruction software

Our Printing, Life Art and Photography workshops are available to all students. Liverpool Fab Lab is also based in the school.

The Exhibition Research Lab Public Gallery

Exhibition Research Lab (ERL) is a public exhibition venue dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of exhibitions and curatorial knowledge. It presents a year-round programme of exhibitions and events open to public.

The Centre attracts visitors from all over the world and was voted as one of the top 10 art venues in Liverpool by The Guardian.

Studio spaces

Our school has designated studio space for you to pursue your practice. The studio environment fosters a community of art and design activities and the interchange of creative ideas between students for all disciplines.

Redmonds Building

Our Redmonds Building contains state-of-the-art equipment, social learning spaces, modern lecture halls, industry-standard studios and production suites and seminar rooms.

Our technical store has an extensive range of media and film equipment to loan students for their assignments and projects. We have a variety of cameras including Sony FX-6, Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K Pro, Sony A7S III.

Multipurpose studio

In 2025, our professionally equipped HD TV studio was upgraded. The studio is used for factual and drama production as well as creating commercials and music videos.

Our Green Screen studio is used to broadcast live news and other filming projects.

Podcasting suites

You can use our fully equipped, professional radio studio, which has editing and audio booths.

Newsrooms

We have four fully equipped newsrooms which have Adobe Creative Cloud software, two with TriCaster live streaming systems.

Production Lab

This multifunctional studio space facilitates filming, projection and green screen workflows and is equipped with  a 7.1.4 surround sound system.

Post Production

As well as IT suites with Adobe Creative Cloud a finishing suite is available for colour grading.

Audio suite

A range of audio facilities are available including foley.
