Could you present at the LJMU Students at the Heart Conference 2023?

The Students at the Heart Conference is a cross university event that brings Teaching and Learning, Professional Services and students into one combined event to share knowledge, success stories and innovative practices with the whole LJMU community.

This year’s Students at the Heart Conference takes place on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 June in our Student Life and Redmonds Building.

As 2023 marks our bicentenary, this year’s theme is ‘LJMU always ahead of our time.’

The submission deadline for the conference has been extended until 9am Monday 13 March, to give students and staff plenty of time to get their submission applications in.

Who can make a submission?

Submissions are welcome from across the LJMU community and with partner organisations. As a student you can create a submission with other students or alongside academic/professional services staff.

What should my submission be about?

Proposals should address one or more of the aims underpinning our new strategy

  • Education and Student Experience: transforming lives and futures - examples of delivering outstanding teaching and learning, enhancing graduate employment prospects, diversifying, responsive support, providing an excellent student experience beyond the curriculum and supporting communities

  • Research and Knowledge Exchange: curiosity, creativity and impact - examples of teaching inspired by research, evidence-based service development, knowledge exchange, and student-led research

  • Place and Partnership: building skills, economy, community - examples of support for the regional skills base, driving local economic growth with business and industry, building on collaboration and growing international students and partners

What have students presented in the past?

At the Students at the Heart Conference 2022 students led and presented several sessions including:

  • Embracing the voices of people with autism

  • Access, supporting and thriving in HE: Roma students learning journey

  • LJMU in the community: an outreach project by students, for students
