LJMU launches Sustainable Development Goals hub

LJMU’s journey towards a more sustainable and prosperous future

LJMU is outlining its commitment to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a microsite which highlights the research and knowledge exchange, student experience and place and partnership activities, that showcase the university’s ongoing journey towards a more sustainable, prosperous future for local communities and the whole planet.

Submission to the Times Higher Impact Rankings 2024

LJMU has collated a report and submitted to the Times Higher Impact Rankings 2024; the global performance table that assesses universities against the UN SDGs. As part of the submission a new series of Sustainable Development Goals webpages and an animation have been produced to support LJMU’s evidence.

The submission saw colleagues from across the university including ELT, Research and Innovation Services, the Climate Action Steering Group, Estates, Finance, HR, Corporate Communications and LJMU’s faculties submit to the rankings, with Lucy Day, LJMU Impact Officer collating the information for LJMU’s own Sustainable Development Goals report (PDF, 3.73MB) and the submission.

'Awaiting June 2024 for the result'

Professor Keith George, Pro-Vice Chancellor Research and Knowledge Exchange, led on the working group for the submission and report, he said:

“We’re delighted to have submitted to the Times Higher Impact Rankings 2024. Producing the submission and report saw an exceptional collaboration from across the university, highlighting all the incredible things we are doing to align with the 17 SDGs and the UN’s blueprint of challenges and opportunities for a better world.

“As we await the result in June 2024, to see how we fare in the performance tables, I’d like to thank all our colleagues for their hard work and commitment. LJMU has been aligning with the SDGs for many years now and it’s great to see all the work, research and ongoing activities brought together and highlighted within the webpages and the report.”
