Happy Lunar New Year to our LJMU community across the world

LJMU is wishing all our students, staff and partners in 30 institutions across the globe a happy Lunar New Year to all those celebrating.

Events at LJMU and across Liverpool

2024 is the year of the (wood) dragon which are seen as auspicious and extraordinary creatures in Chinese culture, signifying nobility, power, luck and success.

To celebrate the new lunar year, LJMU and JMSU held events across campus in the Student Life Building and Byrom Street this week. Students and staff enjoyed a Chinese Culture Fair, free lunch, plus a lion and dragon dancing performance.

Lunar New Year begins on Saturday 10 February and there’s an array of events happening across the city. Find out more on the Visit Liverpool website.

2024 also marks 25 years of Liverpool being twinned with Shanghai and LJMU will be involved in further events throughout the year to celebrate the partnership between the two cities.
