Can you support Clearing 2024?

LJMU is looking for staff to help recruit students to LJMU during Clearing 2024.

Clearing is on Thursday 15 August in the John Foster Building

The university is seeking staff to volunteer their time and help with operating 100 phone lines at our Clearing Hub on Thursday 15 August 2024. No previous experience is required, and full training will be given.

This year the Clearing Hub will be located in the John Foster Building, Mount Pleasant Campus. The busiest times of clearing are 7.30am to 3.30pm, although support is appreciated throughout the day no matter how many hours staff are able to commit to.

All staff can volunteer to help at Clearing

Any member of staff, academic or professional services can take part in clearing and any support provided is greatly appreciated. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will also be provided.

Professional Service Staff volunteers

Professional Services staff wishing to support will be given the role as a Clearing Operator also known as a ‘first responder’ on the main LJMU clearing hotline.  Those available to support as a Clearing Operator, should register by completing the Clearing 2024 - Professional Services staff support form by Friday 19 July.
Full operator training will be given at an online session, 10am to 11am on Tuesday 13 August 2024. This will also be recorded for anyone unable to make the session live.

Academic Staff volunteers

Academic members of staff looking to support with the academic conversion call backs, please email clearingsupport@ljmu.ac.uk

What is Clearing?

During Clearing, thousands of undecided students shop around for their university choices. Clearing is an exciting opportunity for many to dig deeper and find their ideal course and institution.

Operators will be 'first responders' and will be overseen by supervisors, who will be responsible for making each decision. Alongside this, academic staff will be on hand to talk in greater depth about individual courses. An additional confirmation line will be set up to deal with enquiries from existing applicants.

If you have any questions about volunteering for clearing, please contact the team on clearingsupport@ljmu.ac.uk
