Want £1000? Win a Santander Brighter Futures Grant

Be in with a chance of winning 1 of 10 Brighter Futures Grants. 

LJMU has team up with Santander to offer students at the university the chance to win 1 of 10 Brighter Futures Grants, each a £1,000 cash award. 

Open to all LJMU students 

All LJMU students, whether you're an undergraduate or postgraduate can apply. You just need to be studying at LJMU in Liverpool. 

10 grants of £1,000 will be awarded to 10 students 

Those selected can use their Brighter Futures Grant to support their university experience; spend the money on study resources, put towards the cost of accommodation and bills or anything else you need to make your life just that bit easier. 

How to enter 

To be in with a chance of winning all you need to do is register on Santander Open Academy (if not already) and complete a short application form which includes selecting your university. Register and complete your entry here. 

Applications close on the 27 November 2025. You'll be informed of the outcome of your application on the 5 January 2026. 

Any other questions? 

Students do not need to be a Santander customer to apply, the £1,000 is a grant so you don’t ever have to pay it back. The winner will be selected at random, and each student can only apply once.  

The grant is designed to support you and your student experience, such as lightening the load of bills this year, funding new textbooks and equipment to boost learning, or contributing towards your professional development. The grant is a £1,000 cash award paid to your chosen bank account and therefore you can choose how to use the grant to best support you.
