Open consultation on the REF 2029 Code of Practice
LJMU is developing a Code of Practice (CoP) for participation in the Research Excellence Framework 2029 (REF 2029). The CoP will describe how LJMU will operate processes to:
- Identify eligible staff contracts to contribute to the volume measure
- Allocate staff contracts to units of assessment
- Select research outputs for submission to REF 2029.
Universities are required to have a CoP approved by the REF organisation to participate in REF 2029.
Staff to provide feedback
The CoP is now in an open consultation for LJMU staff to provide feedback on the draft stage until 23 January 2026. You can view the CoP consultation draft and download from the Research and Innovation Services webpages.
Staff can ask questions and provide comments about the CoP through emailing REF2029@LJMU.ac.uk or through the open consultation workshops outlined below. Staff can also submit any anonymous questions or comments by emailing the Diversity and Inclusion team, who will anonymise the contribution before sending it into the open consultation process.
Open workshop sessions are available for staff to attend:
- Wednesday 10 December, 12pm to 1pm (Tithebarn Building, room G.09)
- Wednesday 17 December, 11am to 12pm (Tithebarn Building, room 1.22)
- Wednesday 14 January, 11am to 12pm (John Lennon Art and Design Building, room G.23)
These in-person sessions are open for all LJMU staff to ask questions and provide comments about the CoP. There’s no need to register, staff should add to their own diaries and attend on the day.
LJMU staff networks and other workplace groups are also encouraged to send contributions to the open consultation.
