New student ID card delivery and collections for January 2026 starters
If you’re starting your studies with us in early 2026, have you uploaded a photo for your student ID card yet? You’ll need to do this as part of your online student registration.
UK student ID cards
If you complete your registration before midnight on Thursday 18 December 2025 your student ID card will be automatically printed and dispatched to your permanent home address via Royal Mail tracked delivery.
If you complete registration after Thursday 18 December 2025, you will need to collect your student ID card at one of our pop-up card collection hubs on campus from Monday 5 January 2026.
Card collection opens on Monday 5 January until Monday 26 January 2026, from 9am to 4pm, weekdays only, at the Tithebarn Building and Student Life Building.
Information about student ID cards for students starting their studies in September 2026 will be released in the summer.
International student ID cards
Student ID cards will be available for collection as part of the International Welcome Event on Monday 12 January 2026.
After this date and until the end of January, international student ID cards can be collected from the Academic Registry team in Exchange Station, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4pm.
Student ID cards will only be available for international students if all registration criteria have been met.
No card, no access
It's compulsory to bring your ID on to campus, you'll need it to access all of our buildings and lecture theatres and to use our facilities, so make sure to keep it on you at all times.
You won't be granted access without it.
Plus, you can use your student ID card to get 20% off at all Core Cafes on campus.
Returning students what to do if you have lost or misplaced your student ID card
Students returning to LJMU without their student ID card will need to be issued with a new one. This must be done ahead of trying to access any buildings on campus, attending university lectures or using any services.
First you need to request a new student ID card using the ‘request ID card replacement’ form on My LJMU. We’ll then send you a confirmation text to let you know that your new ID is ready for collection.
Replacement student IDs can be collected anytime from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, in either The Library: Mount Pleasant Campus (formerly Aldham Robarts) or The Library: City Campus (formerly Avril Robarts).
