University welcomes 2026 international student cohort
Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has welcomed new international students to campus this month to begin their 2026 studies in Liverpool.
More than 70 students across the globe joined LJMU for induction week 2026.
The university has more than 2000 international students from 128 countries studying a range of courses from across the institution’s Faculty of Society and Culture, and Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science.
Welcoming environment at LJMU
As part of new students’ arrival, the university offers an international welcome event to January-start students to get to know the campus, the city, and make friends.
Welcome sessions also include free lunch and workshops on British culture, adjusting to life in a new country, academic support and how to navigate studies. This includes introductions to the Library team, International Advice team, part-time work opportunities with Unitemps, plus John Moores Students’ Union societies, sports teams and student groups, that can be joined.
LJMU is proud to offer a truly welcoming environment for international students with 94% rating their arrival experience positively, and 93% satisfied with their overall LJMU experience altogether.*
The university also commits to ensuring all international students join a community that is supportive, welcoming and ready to help students succeed. The university’s latest International Student Barometer results echo this with 94% of international students happy with their learning experience and 92% feeling prepared for their future career goals thanks to their LJMU journey.
