Cyber security and resilient systems (CSRS)

The Cyber Security and Resilient Systems Research Group brings together researchers working at the forefront of security, resilience, trust, and privacy in modern digital infrastructures. The group addresses the technical, societal, and regulatory challenges arising from increasingly connected, intelligent, and autonomous systems.

Our research spans the design, implementation, and evaluation of secure and resilient technologies for critical digital ecosystems, with expertise across networking, artificial intelligence, cyber defence, digital forensics, and emerging computing paradigms.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration with academic, industrial, and governmental partners, we translate rigorous research into deployable solutions, policy guidance, and decision-support systems that strengthen cyber resilience and support trustworthy digital transformation.

Our aim

The Cyber Security & Resilient Systems Research Group aims to advance cutting-edge research in secure, resilient, and trustworthy digital infrastructures. We address emerging challenges across cyber security, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital trust, including:

  • AI security, governance, and trustworthiness
  • Deepfake detection, synthetic media analysis, and AI-enabled misinformation
  • Cyber resilience and real-time decision-support systems
  • Digital forensics and incident response
  • Zero Trust architectures
  • Internet of Things (IoT) and edge/cloud systems
  • Intrusion detection and prevention systems
  • Privacy-preserving and secure communication protocols
  • Post-quantum cryptography
  • Vehicular, connected and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) networks
  • Open Radio Access Networks (O-RAN) and 6G security

Our goal is to develop innovative technologies and evidence-based approaches that enable organisations, governments, and society to operate securely in an increasingly complex digital landscape.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration with academic, industrial, and governmental partners, we translate research into deployable solutions, policy guidance, and decision-support tools that strengthen cyber resilience, support the trustworthy adoption of AI, and enable secure digital transformation.
