Supporting health and well-being among children, young people and families

The topic

This event aims to focus on evidence-led research and practice in supporting the health of children, young people, and families.

The organisers

The meeting is being organised by Dr Lawrence Foweather and Dr Emma Ashworth, who jointly lead the children, young people and families interest group within the Institute for Health Research at Liverpool John Moores University.

The ambition

The meeting aims to bring together partners and key stakeholders in the North West to showcase our latest research with regional partners and share experiences with the view to promoting collaborative action in addressing child health inequalities.

Presentations and workshops spanning across the broad range of research themes within the special interest group, including:

  • Health behaviours (substance use, violence reduction, abuse)
  • Promoting perinatal health
  • Physical and mental health
  • Parents/carers influences on child health
  • Health promotion interventions
  • Nature-based initiatives

The morning programme will focus on showcasing research at LJMU from a range of disciplines with a focus on how best to support children and young people’s health across the system. The afternoon programme includes two interactive breakout workshops co-delivered with partner organisations. Morning breaks and lunch will provide opportunities for networking and discussion.

The venue is within walking distance of Liverpool Lime Street Train Station. Paid car parking is nearby (5-minute walk) at Mount Pleasant Car Park.

Who should attend

The meeting will be relevant to representatives from academia, industry, the public sector and the third sector that have an interest in children, young people and family health and well-being. This may include researchers, public health professionals, clinicians and health care professionals, policy-makers, health specialists, paediatricians, physicians, educators, community and business leaders, psychologists and behavioural scientists, among others.

Registration

Registration costs £25 for external delegates, which includes food and refreshments. The conference is free to attend for LJMU staff and students.
