University life is not just about work and studying - you need to factor in time for fun and socialising too.
John Moores Students’ Union (JMSU) offers students the opportunity to become a member of fantastic sports clubs and societies.
There are over 130+ sports and societies that are open to any faith, gender or ability so whatever your experience or background there is something for everyone. And if there isn’t something you are interested in you can even start your own society/sport!

Sports Clubs
Becoming part of a team or taking part in physical activity can be a great way to unwind, keep fit and meet new people. John Moores Students’ Union offers a range of sports clubs and intramural (competitive) sport.
Whether you're looking for the intensity of a team sport or the individual mental challenge of cross country, there's something for all abilities at JMSU: take a look at the current list.

All sports at LJMU are great social activities and most teams have their own Twitter feeds and Facebook pages.
Sport around the region
Merseyside is passionate about football – we have three football teams in the county, Liverpool FC based at Anfield football ground, Everton FC whose home is Goodison Park and Tranmere Rovers FC located on the Wirral.
But world-class sport in the region goes beyond football: Merseyside is the golfing capital of England with over 40 courses, seven of which are leading championship venues – Royal Liverpool hosted the Open Championship in 2006 and Royal Birkdale in 2008.
Liverpool is home to the Grand National, the most famous steeplechase in the world, which attracts an audience of 600 million people. Visit the Aintree Experience and you can take a virtual ride round the hair-raising steeplechase course that has earned its own special place in sporting history.
The Liverpool International Tennis Tournament is held annually in Calderstones Park and has included stars such as John McEnroe and Martina Hingis.
