In the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, we are committed to promoting and embedding a culture of equity, diversity, inclusion and respect in its broadest sense. This involves creating and nurturing a supportive, diverse, and equitable working environment for all our staff and students. Ultimately, we strive to create equity of opportunity for all, enabling colleagues and students alike to realise and fulfil their potential.

Our initiatives include:

  • The appointment of an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Lead to the School’s Senior Management Team, Dr Tori Sprung. This appointment cements the School’s commitment to ensuring transparency in decision-making and its goal to embed EDI within the make-up of the School.
  • Establishing an EDI Panel who coordinate and drive the EDI aspirations of the School. The panel consists of staff and students who are representative across the School in terms of age, gender, grade, contract type, strategic leadership and research/teaching groups.
  • Celebrating diversity; for example, International Women’s Day and International Day for people with a Disability.
