Sport and Exercise Sciences outreach
Opportunities for your students to discover LJMU
Did you know we have had many successes as a STEM partner for Royal Society Partnership Grant Scheme? We are also a British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences Outreach Hub.
At Liverpool John Moores University we are committed to offering the best possible advice and guidance to you and your students. The Outreach Team are pleased to be able to offer a range of workshops, presentations and campus visits to encourage progression to higher education and to help provide transparency surrounding the university admissions process for students and their schools/colleges. We are dedicated to providing a professional service to schools and colleges, free of charge, to help support your students in making informed higher education choices.
We offer a range of subject-based taster days, throughout the year, enabling students to explore different pathways in higher education. Our large team of student advocates are also able to deliver workshops and presentations in schools, providing more information about the course they are studying as well as student life in general. See below for some of the great events that we have run over the years.
The COVID-19 pandemic allowed the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences to engage with students, teachers and key stakeholders in a dramatically different way. We are now able to work with schools and colleges across the wider United Kingdom virtually; and we are committed to supporting students interested in Sport courses via academic drop-ins, course presentations and bespoke outreach requests.
Typically, each year we have three widening access-based events.
Here Come the Girls – The Future of Sport and Exercise Science linked to International Women’s Day. Topics about the female athletes, exerciser and those who want to get more active are a feature delivered by female staff and male allies.
Summer Term Outreach events – different disciplines on each of two days in June showcase the wonders of sport and exercise science and ensure students are active participants in workshops as well as experiencing a keynote lecture from a world leading Professor in the subject.
As always, we will be prioritising students who will benefit most from the experience, and those identified as underrepresented by the Office for Students. For the remainder of the current academic year, we will continue to honour bespoke Outreach requests for both virtual and, where possible, in-person events.
