Liverpool City Region Retrofit Summit and Expo 2026
Hosted by Liverpool John Moores University
Liverpool John Moores University is proud to host the Liverpool City Region Retrofit Summit and Expo 2026, a landmark, free to attend event bringing together housing professionals, local authorities, industry leaders, academics, community organisations and policymakers who are shaping the future of low carbon homes.
Taking place on Wednesday 3 June 2026 at LJMU’s Byrom Street Campus, the Summit and Expo forms a flagship part of Retrofit Action Week Liverpool City Region 2026 and builds on the success of previous regional retrofit events. It provides a vital platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and practical learning at a critical moment for the UK’s housing decarbonisation agenda.
Event overview
The Liverpool City Region Retrofit Summit and Expo 2026 is designed to support the delivery of high quality, inclusive retrofit at scale. This year’s core theme focuses on:
“The Warm Homes Plan: what it means for local retrofit delivery.”
Through a curated programme of keynote talks, expert panels and case studies, the Summit will explore how national policy translates into regional action, addressing the real world challenges of delivery across all tenures, from social housing to private and community led retrofit.
Co located with the Summit, the Expo will showcase leading retrofit solutions, technologies and services, enabling delegates to engage directly with suppliers, innovators and delivery partners who are helping to accelerate decarbonisation across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.
A unique LJMU experience
As host, LJMU is delighted to offer delegates exclusive access to its Retrofit Living Labs, including guided tours of the University’s retrofit houses on site. These facilities provide a rare, behind the scenes insight into building performance testing, fabric first approaches and whole house retrofit in practice, reinforcing LJMU’s long standing commitment to applied research, innovation and skills development in the built environment.

The event will be of particular interest to:
- housing and asset management professionals
- local and combined authority officers
- retrofit coordinators and programme managers
- construction, energy and sustainability specialists
- community organisations and third sector delivery partners
