ACP symposium - Advancing Practice in a Digital Era
Join the School of Nursing, Allied and Public Health at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) for our full-day symposium, Advancing Practice in a Digital Era. This event will bring together Advanced Practitioners, Trainee Advanced Practitioners, and healthcare partners to explore how digital innovation is transforming advanced practice across healthcare settings.

The day will open with Linda Havard (keynote speaker), who will share insights from her experience as a Chief Nursing Information Officer, reflecting on digital innovation in advanced practice and across the NHS, and what this means for the future workforce.
The programme also showcases innovative work from our graduate Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP).
Emma Nunes will present (ACP – Frailty) 'From paper to progress', exploring the transition from traditional to digital systems in practice.
Jessica Bailey (ACP – Hepatology) 'Implementing a virtual ward for patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis', highlighting the impact of digital pathways on patient care.
Kevin Cairnes (Lecturer in Clinical Skills and Simulation at LJMU) ‘Can You Trust an Algorithm?' An exploration of the increasing role of artificial intelligence in healthcare and the implications of integrating digital systems into clinical practice.
In the afternoon, delegates will have the opportunity to take part in interactive workshops, including:
- Does healthcare innovation improve patient care or increase workload?
- How can Advanced Clinical Practitioners use digital tools safely, accurately, and with confidence?
- How can ACPs co-design digital services that truly work?
These sessions will include contributions from our key speakers, and LJMU’s academic staff, supporting collaborative learning across the workforce.
The day will conclude with an expert panel Q&A featuring keynote speakers, academics, and presenters, offering delegates the chance to ask questions, share perspectives, and reflect on the future of digital healthcare in advanced practice.
This symposium provides a valuable opportunity to network, share best practice, and engage with the evolving digital landscape in healthcare.
