Budgeting

Most students need to manage on a very tight budget. This can often feel impossible, but this is where budgeting early in the year may help.

There are lots of websites that offer budgeting information, advice and resources for students:

Part-time work alongside your studies

Working part-time is a good option for some students. Alongside additional income it can also provide you with skills, new experiences and the opportunity to meet people.

When finding work it is important to consider factors such as how many hours work you can manage alongside your study commitments and how work might impact your wellbeing (for example bar work may involve late nights and reduced sleep).

Research shows that more than 20 hours of work a week can have a negative impact on academic performance. If you are struggling financially please speak to the Money Advice Team or your academic tutor.
