The Redmond Annual Prize Fund for Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Have you got an idea for an innovative, creative or social venture you're looking to bring to life? LJMU Fellows, Professor Sir Phil Redmond CBE and Lady Alexis Redmond, have generously created this fund to help LJMU students like you turn your brilliant ideas into reality here in the Liverpool City Region.

Every year, we will award two amazing students (one undergraduate and one postgraduate) a fantastic one-off prize of £2,500 each. Students can also apply as a group of up to four for the prize. We're looking for passionate students with great ideas, enthusiasm, entrepreneurial spirit, and the determination to make things happen!

Tell us your idea

Complete our short Expression of Interest form with details of your idea. At this stage it does not need to be fully formed.

The Start-up Hub team will be in touch to confirm your eligibility and explain next steps in the application process.

The deadline to submit your Expressions of Interest is 8 February 2026.

What happens next?

If you are eligible, the Start-up team will give you feedback on the suitability of your idea. You will be invited to a friendly 30-minute online group session where the Start-up team will guide you through everything you need to know to develop and submit your application for the prize. These sessions will be held on several dates in December, January and February.

Once you’ve attended the session, you can start work on your final application. Support will be available from the Start-up Hub team if you have any questions. The deadline to submit your final application is 30 March 2026.

Shortlisting will be completed by the start of May 2026. If you make the shortlist, you'll be invited to present your vision to our judging panel, chaired by Professor Sir Phil Redmond CBE and Lady Alexis Redmond, in the week commencing 18 May 2026.
