UK-MUC Sustainable Entrepreneurship Summer Programme 2026

Dates: 20 to 24 July 2026, plus pre-departure sessions

Location: Universiti Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur

This programme is an innovative week-long programme open to undergraduate students from all disciplines with an entrepreneurial mindset, who are interested in starting up their own business or who have already done so.


Benefits and Process of Degree Accreditation for Malaysian Universities

In this workshop, delivered in collaboration with UK-MUC, the University of Derby, the Royal Society of Biology and the Royal Society of Chemistry, participants explored the benefits of degree accreditation and gained a clear understanding of the accreditation process tailored for Malaysian universities.


Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Workshop

This workshop, led by Prof Dr Frances Maratos from the University of Derby, explored the impact of contemporary Higher Education working conditions on staff mental health and wellbeing, highlighting high workload, insecurity, performativity and reduced resources as key contributors to stress and burnout.


AI in Allied Health Workshop: A Network of Deep Medicine Experts for Global Health

Date: 23 February 2026

Location: Online

At a time when medicine is increasingly driven by data and technology, AI can help restore time, empathy and human connection. Rather than replacing clinicians, AI can support better diagnosis and enable more personalised and preventative care. Deep medicine highlights the ethical responsibilities that come with these technologies, including transparency and bias. This workshop explored how AI can make healthcare not only more intelligent, but more humane.


Bridging Borders, Raising Leaders: Empowering Women in Global Higher Education Leadership Symposium 2026

University of Nottingham Malaysia, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi MARA and University of Nottingham UK, supported by the British Council, hosted a two-day symposium “Bridging Borders, Raising Leaders – Empowering Women in Global Higher Education Leadership Symposium 2026”.

The symposium brought together influential voices, policymakers, professional staff, academics, and emerging leaders for thought-provoking dialogues, as participants collectively reimagined what leadership must look like for the future of learning – one that is inclusive, innovative, and impact-driven.


British Council Higher Education Mission to Malaysia

The UK Higher Education Mission to Malaysia provided a comprehensive and forward-looking view of a system in rapid transition. Engagements in Kuala Lumpur, Putra Jaya and Johor illuminated Malaysia’s economic ambitions, evolving policy frameworks, talent demands, and institutional dynamism, while highlighting where UK partnerships can tangibly accelerate skills, research and innovation outcomes.

Early Career Researcher (ECR) Networking Workshop

Location: Hybrid/Sunway University, Malaysia

The ECR workshop convened academics and professional staff from UK and Malaysian institutions to explore the importance of international collaboration for research and career progression. Participants connected with peers, heard first-hand career stories from researchers with UK and Malaysian experience, and learned about the purpose and criteria of the UK-MUC Travel Grants, designed to support ECRs in taking their first steps toward meaningful international partnerships.


Transnational Education that Works – Best Practice Case Studies and Innovative Pathways Workshop

Location: Hybrid/Sunway University, Malaysia

This workshop convened academic and professional leaders from 22 UK and Malaysian Higher Education institutions to explore effective, scalable transnational education models. It aims to guide future UK-Malaysia collaboration, strengthen sector alignment and inform the British Council’s strategic role in enabling high-quality TNE.

The AGM discussed Consortium highlights such as Catalyst Grant Funding, membership growth and opened discussion to Consortium members regarding topics like sustainable funding models.
